Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, online shopping has become a norm. This has led to an increase in cardboard boxes and packaging usage. “What do I do with all of these boxes?” you may ask. Visit our local recycling centers where you can dispose of your cardboard and other recyclables. This can deter a lot of wastes from the landfill. In addition to visiting recycling centers, Salisbury offers a bi-weekly curb pickup service that accepts clean cardboard. Make sure to break your boxes down and remove excess tape!
Recycling is important because it saves energy, reduces carbon emissions, and reduces the demand for raw materials and space. Recycling offsets resources that would surpass our lifetimes in landfills. Recyclable Plastic 1, for example, is commonly used as water bottle material. It is estimated to take around 450 years to decompose in a landfill!
We greatly encourage you to utilize Salisbury and Rowan County recycling centers whenever possible.
