Jim Behmer, Salisbury-Rowan Utilities’ Director, received the Helping Hand Award presented by the Rowan County United Way at the Rowan County Annual meeting last month.
The Helping Hand Award, established in 1996, is presented to a United Way volunteer who has provided extraordinary service to the Rowan County United Way member agencies and the community through sincere dedication in caring for others.
In his nomination it stated, “This person has given much of their time and talent to Rowan County United Way. They have served in many roles including four years on the Campaign Cabinet and has served on numerous committees. They are always positive, committed, loyal, fair, passionate and compassionate and never seeks recognition. They truly care about United Way, the work we do, the volunteers and the agencies.”
“I am truly honored and humbled to receive the Helping Hand Award,” said Behmer. “The Rowan County United Way has numerous volunteers that assist our community each and every day, and to be recognized by another volunteer is very special. I am proud to serve and volunteer for such a great resource to our community.”
