Whether you’re strolling down the sidewalks by day or cruising the city streets by night, in just a few short minutes, you’ll notice that it really does “look a lot like Christmas” in Downtown Salisbury! There’s truly something for everyone! From lighted topiaries, to twinkling reindeer nodding from windows, traditional classic wreaths and sturdy snowmen; a tree bedecked with a black top-hat, a stuffed animal sloth happily hugging a shiny guitar; garlands and tall, colorful nutcrackers; snowflakes and a retro snow machine display, seen in years past at Bernhardt Hardware, now gracing a different venue, while rekindling memories; bookish bears and “home for the holidays” themes; western and modern chic; traditional reds and greens – new teals and mint; sparkly and/or subtle and unexpected. You’re sure to find much to strike your fancy as you gaze about downtown celebrating the season.
Kudos to the downtown merchants and office building tenants who have put so much effort into dressing our city to reflect this holiday wonderland. As you are shopping locally, do plan an excursion downtown just to enjoy the creativity of this year’s holiday decorations and embrace the spirit of the season all around you. Take note, as well, where spaces that are not currently occupied by a business, have been decorated to showcase non-profit agencies of our community such as the YMCA and Rowan Public Library. What an interesting and informative effort to bring attention to vital agencies of our community!
The Salisbury Community Appearance Commission wishes to thank all the businesses for their extra efforts to create a downtown holiday wonderland! It was a very difficult task to select only a few to honor this year. Indeed, all are winners!
