The City of Salisbury, in partnership with Rowan County, is encouraging residents to prepare for the 2020 U.S. Census, a count of the country’s population. The census provides important information needed to receive federal funding for schools, hospitals, roads, infrastructure and other needs.
“Our goal through this partnership is to ensure that all residents are “counted once, only once and in the right place” in Rowan County,” said Salisbury City Manager W. Lane Bailey. “About $675 billion in state and federal funds are issued every year based on the U.S. Census. We are encouraging residents to participate so that Salisbury and Rowan County can get the full state and federal funding we are entitled to. The Census numbers have a significant impact as it effects funding and we need your help to make RoCo count.”
In March 2020, all residential addresses will receive an invitation in the mail to participate in the 2020 Census.
