The Salisbury Police Department is investigating a shooting incident in the 900 block of E. Lafayette St., which left one person dead and four injured, one more from the initial three injured. Two victims are currently at the local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while one has been airlifted to Baptist Hospital in critical condition. Police are searching the area for additional potential victims.
A gunshot victim who arrived at a hospital in Statesville this afternoon appears to have been involved in the shooting today on E. Lafayette St. in Salisbury.
The Salisbury Police Department was notified by the Statesville Police Department that the victim arrived at the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Salisbury detectives are on the way to interview the person.
The incident began at 11:58 a.m. as a fight and escalated to a shooting. Police are currently searching for the suspect or suspects.
The investigation is still in early stages and it is unknown at this time whether this shooting is related to a shooting in the same area on Friday, April 24 at 4:25 p.m.
