Salisbury will celebrate local community agencies, neighborhoods and law enforcement partnerships at a combined Back-to-School Community Resource Fair and National Night Out event, Tuesday, Aug. 1, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Bell Tower Green Park.
The Salisbury Human Relations Commission (HRC) is pleased to announce the 2023 Elizabeth Duncan Koontz (EDK) Humanitarian Award recipients. This year’s recipients, Bishop Ronald Hash, Nicolas “Nick” Means, and Dr. Martha Starks, will be honored at a special program on Thursday, May 11.
Residents are invited to apply to the City’s 14 active, standing boards and commissions created and appointed by Salisbury City Council. Boards and commissions are made up of volunteer positions to help guide Salisbury’s present and future.

The Covenant Community Connection (CCC), a subcommittee of the Salisbury Human Relations Council, hosts a “Supporting Public Education” workshop, Saturday, March 26, First Presbyterian Church, 308 W. Fisher St., from 1 to 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
The Salisbury Human Relations Council (HRC) will host its annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Weekend virtually in a similar format to the 2021 programming due to COVID-19. The 2022 theme, “Keep Moving Forward: United for Service, Peace and Equity,” will be incorporated into a number of weekend activities, Saturday, Jan.15 through Monday, Jan. 17.

Salisbury Mayor Karen Alexander will host the Virtual Mayor’s Spirit Luncheon, Monday, August 9, from noon to 1 p.m., live via the City’s Facebook page.
Rowan County parents, caregivers and students are invited to the bi-annual 2021 Back-to-School Community Resource Fair, Saturday, Aug. 14, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Salisbury Civic Center, 315 S. MLK, Jr. Ave. Local non-profit organizations and businesses will be on hand to speak to residents about support services offered.
Jill Burch, the late Paul Fisher and Matthew Marsh have been named winners of the 2021 Elizabeth Duncan Koontz Humanitarian Award. The trio will be honored during a virtual presentation today, Thursday, April 8, at 5:30 p.m. via the Salisbury Human Relations Council Facebook page and on WSRG-TV -- Fision Channel 394 and Spectrum Channel 16.
