Con artists and scammers are particularly active during the holiday season, both in-person and online. Salisbury Police offers a few tips to stay safe from criminals this holiday season.
This month’s employee spotlight is Cyndi DeBonis, a Salisbury police officer. True to the motto of “Every officer has a neighborhood and every neighborhood has an officer,” Cyndi takes calls for service primarily in Zone three and assists officers in other zones. She also serves warrants and helps with traffic accidents.
Last night, at approximately 8 PM with the assistance of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department, the Salisbury Police Department Criminal Division Unit and Salisbury Police Department NCAT arrested Marshall Oliver Morefield (DOB-03-07-2003) for the shooting that occurred Saturday, October 23rd, 2021 in the 1200 block of West Bank St. Mr. Morefield was charged with Assault with Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury. Mr. Morefield was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a$75,000.00 bond.
On Monday, Oct. 11, the Salisbury Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the area of City Park, near the intersection of W. Miller St. and Club House Dr. at 5:28 p.m. Officers located a total of 28 spent firearm shell casing at the crime scene. While officers were on the scene, Antwaun Reynard Miller, age 30, of Salisbury arrived at Rowan Regional Medical Center suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Officers have connected Miller’s injuries to the incident at City Park. Officers also located a vehicle that left the scene with bullet holes and other evidence inside that is believed to have been involved. No suspects have been identified at this time.
The Salisbury Police Department is able to confirm that a rifle seized by the Rowan County Sheriff’s office is the same rifle that was used in the homicide on December 4, 2016 involving 7 year-old A’Yanna Allen. This discovery was made due to the close working relationship between the Salisbury Police Department and the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. Further information will be released when available.
The Salisbury Police Department has obtained a Juvenile Petition for the homicide that occurred on 09-12-2021 at 801 Maple Avenue Salisbury, NC 28144. The petition was served and the juvenile was released back to the custody of their guardian by the Department of Juvenile Justice.
