Salisbury combines Community Resource Fair, National Night Out events to celebrate community, neighborhood partnerships

Salisbury will celebrate local community agencies, neighborhoods and law enforcement partnerships at a combined Back-to-School Community Resource Fair and National Night Out event, Tuesday, Aug. 2, beginning at 6 p.m. at Bell Tower Green Park.

Beginning Running Class-Fall 2022

The Beginners' Running Training Program is an eight-week course designed to take you from a beginning runner to 5K runner. Each evening begins with approximately 30 minutes of classroom instruction then we hit the streets for a run that gradually increases in distance from 1/2 mile to 3.1 miles. 

Salisbury Police hosts second “Cultivating Community Conversations”

The Salisbury Police Department (SPD) will host its second, in-person “Cultivating Community Conversations” event Thursday, July 28, 5:30 p.m., at Park Avenue Center, 632 Park Avenue. There, residents who serve on the Police Chief’s Advisory Board will lead engagement between officers and residents in an open discussion. 

City of Salisbury receives top Healthiest Employer honor

The City of Salisbury claimed the top spot in the 2022 “Healthiest Employer” competition among Charlotte area businesses, according to the Charlotte Business Journal. Salisbury has made the list for the past three years in the 100 to 499-employee category. This year was the first time the municipality came in at number one.

West End Grant Liaisons to Ask For Surveys

 West End residents are encouraged to complete the survey for the West End Salisbury Transformed Empowered Neighborhood Development (WEST END) $800,000 grant project in conjunction with the Salisbury Police Department, Parks and Recreation Department, Community Planning Department and the Salisbury-Rowan NAACP. The survey link can be accessed via a smartphone camera by taking a photo of this QR code. 

Salisbury Sculpture Show Has New Neighbors

One of the prettiest feathers in Salisbury’s cap, the Sculpture Show, curated by the Salisbury Public Arts Commission, has returned with 21 new sculptures by artists from across the Eastern United States.

As a new initiative for 2022, the Public Arts Commission made a call for neighborhoods to apply as hosts for sculptures. Featured neighborhoods this year are: Castlewood, Country Club Hills, and Milford Knoll Neighborhood.
