To help aid preventative measures of spreading COVID-19, the City of Salisbury has updated building closings and other cancellations. Mayor Karen Alexander declared a state of emergency for the City of Salisbury related to the COVID-19 virus (Coronavirus), following a similar declaration by Rowan County. The declaration authorizes the City to apply for financial assistance related to preparation, response and recovery of COVID-19 if needed through state or federal agencies.

Due to increased evacuations across the county, The Red Cross will open a shelter at J.F. Hurley YMCA located at828 W Jake Alexander Blvd Salisbury for residents of Rowan County who are in imminent threat of danger or have been directed by Public Officials. This Shelter will open at 9:30 PM on this date September 16th 2018.

Please bring blankets, pillows, medications, and any other special needs equipment.
