Update on Firefighter Injuries and Ongoing Investigation

All twelve firefighters have been released from the hospital. Several individuals will remain under physician supervision for a period of time as a precaution. The injuries sustained ranged from sprains and bruising to concussions, and all are considered non-life-threatening.

As a result of the incident, occupants were displaced from their residence. The Salisbury Fire Department extends its thoughts to those affected during this difficult time. The American Red Cross continues to work with the family to help ensure their immediate and ongoing needs are being met.

The investigation into both the fire and the secondary explosion remains ongoing. The Salisbury Fire Investigation Taskforce is leading the investigation with support from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI) and the North Carolina Office of the State Fire Marshal (NCOSFM). Until the investigation is complete, the Salisbury Fire Department will be limited in its ability to provide additional statements or details. Additional information will be released as it becomes available and appropriate to do so.
