This month’s employee spotlight is Paula Craven, a senior customer service representative. She celebrates her 10-year work anniversary with the City of Salisbury this month. In her role, Paula responds to residents’ requests over email and phone, interprets and translates for the Spanish-speaking community, and receives and processes municipal utility payments.
The second “Cultivating Community Conversations” will be held Thursday, July 28, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Park Avenue Community Center, 532 Park Avenue, Salisbury NC 28144. There, residents who serve on the Police Chief’s Advisory Board will lead engagement between officers and residents in an open discussion. Food will be served.
The Salisbury Police Department responded to 121 Oakwood Avenue shortly after midnight on Tuesday, July 5, for the report of a shooting. Upon the arrival of officers and other emergency personnel, Dwayne Coward, 39, was found deceased after succumbing to his injuries.

Salisbury will serve as the backdrop for an upcoming Hallmark Movie beginning next week. The production may affect travel near Salisbury High School, homes along the 400 block of South Fulton Street, and the 100 block of East Fisher Street, Tuesday, June 28 through Friday, July 1. Intermittent road closures also may occur on Saturday, July 2 along South Fulton Street. Detour signage will be in place.
