Shooting on W. Clay Street

On Saturday night May 28, 2016 at 10:36pm Salisbury Police Officers responded to a shots fired call in the area of E. Fisher and S. Shaver St. When officers arrived, they came in contact with a shooting victim identified as Christopher Shepherd, age 44 of Salisbury. EMS was called and transported Shepherd to Novant Health Rowan Regional Medical Center. He was then transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital for further treatment. He has since been released. 


NOTICE OF DISCHARGE OF UNTREATED WASTE

Salisbury, N.C., (Wednesday, June 1, 2016) – Salisbury-Rowan Utilities had a discharge of untreated wastewater from the 1500 block of McCanless Road in Salisbury, of approximately 32,000 gallons of which approximately 27,000 gallons reached surface waters.

Salisbury public services experiencing high volume of yard and limb collection

Salisbury, N.C., (Thursday, July 14, 2016) – The Salisbury public services department is collecting a high volume of yard and limb debris following recent storm damage. Workers are attempting to remove all debris in a timely manner, however residents are asked to remain patient as the collection process may take a number of weeks before the regular schedule resumes.

George Washington’s 1791 visit to Salisbury to be celebrated with commissioned public art piece

Salisbury, N.C., (Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016) – In commemoration of George Washington’s visit to Salisbury, N.C. in 1791, the Salisbury Public Art Committee commissioned a sculpture for the front lawn of the Rowan Museum, the site where Washington greeted colonial citizens and attended a ball 225 years ago. The Public Art Committee and Mayor Karen Alexander, along with the Rowan Museum and the Salisbury- Rowan Convention and Visitor’s Bureau will dedicate the sculpture “George Washington Visits Salisbury,” Friday, Aug. 5, at 3:30 p.m. at the Rowan Museum. Members of the public are invited to attend the reception following the dedication.
