The City of Salisbury is working with the community to create Forward 2040: Salisbury’s Framework for Growth. This is a comprehensive plan to guide the City’s growth over the next 20 years relating to land use, future growth, physical development, and capital improvements. Importantly, Forward 2040 will flow from the people’s vision of how the community should work together and grow wisely.
Comprehensive Planning Public Input Meeting
The City of Salisbury is working with our community to create a new Comprehensive Plan for a stronger and smarter future. Forward 2040 will establish a high-level policy framework to guide planning priorities and decisions over the next 20 years related to land use, future growth, physical development, and capital improvements. Rowan County Emergency Management and the City of Salisbury are debuting “RoCo Alerts” to keep residents up to date, in real time, about local, emergency and non-emergency situations.
At the next City Council meeting on Tuesday, March 3, City Council will consider contract awards to two utility contractors, and adoption of a resolution of bond order related to two major projects within Salisbury-Rowan Utilities (SRU) – the Water Treatment Plant Improvements Project and the Grants Creek Wastewater Treatment Train Improvements Project.

From New York to Salisbury, Anthony Dito considers himself a true Salisburian. He has been employed with the City of Salisbury Public Works Department for more than 20 years. As part of the waste division, his duties include operating the garbage truck for curbside collection services removing residential garbage and yard waste. During inclement weather, Anthony also assists with snow removal.
Meetings are held the 1st Wednesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. There is no meeting in July. Meetings are via Zoom until further notice.

The public is invited to the memorial ceremony for firefighters who died in service.
Three local, public-spirited personalities were honored with the 2020 Elizabeth Duncan Koontz (EDK) Humanitarian Award, given by the Salisbury Human Relations Council. Greg Alcorn, Annie Bates and Char Molrine were the featured guests at the annual EDK dinner on Thursday, Feb. 27.
