Earlier this afternoon, the Salisbury Police Department received a 911 call reporting possible shots fired within approximately three blocks of the Catawba College campus.
Out of an abundance of caution, the college and several other schools in the area were immediately placed on lockdown while officers conducted a thorough investigation.
At this time, no injuries or property damage related to a shooting have been identified. The lockdowns have been lifted, and campus operations have returned to normal.
