The Salisbury Public Art Committee announces a call for entries for the 2018 Salisbury Sculpture Show and its inaugural Arts & Agriculture program, a special extension of the Sculpture Show. Artists are invited to submit their outdoor pieces for consideration in the award-winning art installation program by Wednesday, Dec. 20.
To accommodate the last minute shoppers, Salisbury Transit will run normal schedule including weekend express right up to December 23rd.

Effective Jan. 1, 2018, Salisbury will be implementing new routes for garbage, recycling and yard debris collection, possibly resulting in a new garbage, recycling and yard debris pick-up day of the week for residents. Route changes will allow for more efficient collection points, while keeping the trucks in the same general area each day, thereby reducing the number of miles driven per week.
The Salisbury parks and recreation department has received $50,000 in funding from the Blanche and Julian Robertson Family Foundation in support of a new Teen Center program to be offered at the Miller Recreation Center, 1402 W. Bank St. The program, for children ages 10-17, will offer mentoring, life skills, homework assistance and recreation opportunities.

Shannon C. Moore has been promoted to finance director with the City of Salisbury. She will assume the position from Teresa Harris who is retiring at the end of the year. Moore’s new position is effective Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018.
One of the oldest documented fire departments in the state of N.C., will celebrate its 200th anniversary, Friday, Dec. 8 with a historical marker dedication and a fire truck parade in downtown Salisbury.

Salisbury Transit will cease fixed-route services Wednesday November 22, 2017 at 1:00 pm
for the Holiday Parade. We will resume service as soon as the parade is over.
There will be NO regular fixed-route bus service on Thursday, November 23, 2017
in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday.
On Thursday, Nov. 9 at 5:04 p.m., the Salisbury Police Department was notified that an armed robbery was in progress at the Wells Fargo Bank, 866 W. Jake Alexander Blvd.
