The Salisbury Youth Council (SYC) is excited to announce the induction of its newest members during the Member Induction and Pinning Ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Salisbury City Hall.

It’s the time of the year when children and adults dress in their costumes, festival decorations are placed and an endless bounty of candy is given for Halloween. To help keep trick-or-treaters safe on Halloween, the Salisbury Fire Department would like to remind everyone of several safety tips.
The City of Salisbury has launched a community survey to hear the public’s opinion about housing affordability, needs and types of development. The survey will help inform local leaders as they develop a 10-year housing strategic plan to help identify community housing gaps and barriers.
Livingstone College’s annual Homecoming Parade will be held Saturday, Oct. 21 in downtown Salisbury and along streets in the West End. Downtown streets will close at 8:30 a.m., and the parade will begin at 9 a.m.

The Salisbury Police Department (SPD) will continue a partnership with a local auto group to deliver bicycles to Salisbury children during the Christmas holiday season. The annual SPD Christmas Bicycle Program applications are open now through Friday, Nov. 10 at www.salisburync.gov/ChristmasBike.
The Salisbury Police Department hosted its Women in Law Enforcement Luncheon in celebration of National Police Women’s Day on Tuesday, Sept. 12. The luncheon brought together more than 70 remarkable women from various law enforcement agencies, including police departments, sheriff’s offices, and state agencies, representing a broad spectrum of leadership roles.

This month’s employee spotlight is Randy Allman. He has been employed with the Salisbury-Rowan Utilities (SRU) Department for 32 years. In his current role as a distribution and collections systems operations manager, Randy plans, organizes, directs, and manages division activities including the construction, maintenance, and repair of the water distribution and sewer collection systems.
