The City of Salisbury is currently accepting applications for membership to the Salisbury Youth Council (SYC). Salisbury Youth Council is a service-oriented organization for youths aimed to enhance and build a more positive community. SYC members serve the community at large, learn about local government, attain leadership skills and participate in programs and community service projects.
Salisbury Fire Department responded to an outside forklift fire that was quickly extinguished by Engine 6. There were no injuries and the Salisbury Fire Department’s Fire Marshal’s Office and Rowan County Fire Marshal continue to investigate the cause of the fire along with the Henkel staff. Thank you to all the responding agencies who assisted Salisbury Fire - Locke, Granite Quarry, Kannapolis FD, Salisbury Police and Rowan County Emergency Services.

The Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) is a federally-funded program that provides emergency assistance to low-income households, particularly those with the lowest incomes, that pay a high proportion of household income for drinking water and wastewater services.
The City of Salisbury has been awarded a North Carolina Emergency Management (NCEM) Relief and Mitigation Grant to purchase sensors totaling $64,040. The funds will be used to purchase integrated stream height sensors and road surface sensors.
Last month, four City of Salisbury lifeguards on duty gave medical attention to a three-year-old toddler. The lifeguards provided aid until the paramedics arrived, roughly five minutes after the lifeguards called, and they whisked the toddler to the hospital. It has been reported to the City of Salisbury that the child received the medical care he needed and will be okay.
The Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department invites community members and businesses to participate in the fall 2022 adult kickball league. The fall league starts September 19 and runs through October 20.
Salisbury will celebrate local community agencies, neighborhoods and law enforcement partnerships at a combined Back-to-School Community Resource Fair and National Night Out event, Tuesday, Aug. 2, beginning at 6 p.m. at Bell Tower Green Park.
