Tickets are now on sale for Downtown Salisbury’s 10th annual Wine About Winter, wine-tasting event. Wine connoisseurs throughout the region are invited to tour the wines of North Carolina and beyond in historic Downtown Salisbury, Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
This month’s employee spotlight is Crissy McBride, the accountant for the City of Salisbury Finance Department. In her role, Crissy balances the general ledger which records all of the City’s transactions, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management. She also prepares State and Federal reports, manages capital assets, and assists with the annual audit.
The Salisbury Human Relations Council (HRC) hosts the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration beginning Saturday, Jan. 14 through Monday, Jan. 16.
The annual cemetery cleanup is scheduled for Monday, January 30 through Friday, February 3 in preparation for the seasonal cemetery mowing in early April. Residents are asked to remove flowers, gifts and other mementos off of their plots before Monday, January 30. Anything on plots during the week of January 30 - February 3 will be removed and discarded.
For the 18th year, Salisbury’s Community Appearance Commission (CAC) continues the tradition of touring Downtown Salisbury business holiday window displays, and awarding the most impactful decorations.
This month’s employee spotlight is Fern Blair, web and marketing services coordinator for the City of Salisbury Communications Department. In her role, Fern manages the city’s websites and branding, designs the monthly newsletter and provides marketing and design support to city departments for events, programs and educational initiatives.
Delando Clowney Jr., a recreation coordinator for the parks and recreation department, is this month’s employee spotlight. He is responsible for planning and operating activities at Miller Recreation Teen Center. In his role, Delando supervises and supports teen center staff, communicates and works with teens, individuals and community groups to create programs of interest for teens, and manages the facility’s budget.
It’s the time of the year when children and adults dress in their costumes, festival decorations are placed and an endless bounty of candy is given for Halloween. To help keep trick-or-treaters safe on Halloween, the Salisbury Fire Department would like to remind everyone of some safety tips.
The City of Salisbury issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to purchase and redevelop the Plaza building located in downtown Salisbury. The mixed-use seven-story building, completed in 1910, was the tallest in North Carolina when it was constructed and still serves as an iconic image of the city. Salisbury is located along the Interstate I-85 corridor and is mid-way between Charlotte, NC, and the Triad region.
The Salisbury Police Department secured warrants for Talib Latrell Kelly, age 21 of Salisbury. Kelly, who is not a Livingstone College student, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, discharging a firearm on educational property, and possession of a firearm by a felon for his involvement in the shooting incident at Livingstone College on Saturday, Oct. 15.
