The Salisbury City Council approved the city budget for the fiscal year 2023-2024 (FY24). A fiscal year is the city’s annual financial period beginning July 1 through June 30.
The City of Salisbury will operate on an adjusted schedule for the Juneteenth Day holiday, Monday, June 19.
This month’s employee spotlight is Darrell Riley, an engineering specialist in the City of Salisbury Engineering Department. With 23 years of service, Darrell started his career with public services, currently public works, in 1999 as a grounds maintenance worker. He then joined the engineering department in 2013.

The 2023 Cheerwine Festival will be held on Saturday, May 20, in Salisbury from noon to 10 p.m. In preparation for the Festival, the city will begin to close roadways on Friday, May 19, at 6 p.m.

Businesses and residents in the 100 block of W. Innes St. may be without power beginning Monday, March 27, at 11 p.m. through Tuesday, March 28, at 7 a.m. as Duke Energy replaces an electrical panel, weather permitting.
In summer 2018, Salisbury debuted its resident reporting and service request tool, Salisbury311. Salisbury311 allows community members to be involved with the upkeep of the city by submitting problems or observations to Salisbury city staff. Submissions by users are turned into work orders that are emailed to the appropriate city department.
Cheerwine the iconic 106-year-old cherry soda and its hometown, the City of Salisbury, will host the annual Cheerwine Festival on Saturday, May 20, from noon to 10 p.m.
