Free movie and music series takes place at Bell Tower Green
Lights! Camera! Action! And Music! Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department presents Reels and Riffs, a movie and music series at Bell Tower Green. Community members are invited to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks to the free shows sponsored by Salisbury Parks and Recreation, Visit Rowan County and Downtown Salisbury Inc.
The 2022 Cheerwine Festival will be held on Saturday, May 21, in Salisbury from noon to 10 p.m. In preparation for the Festival, the city will begin to close roadways on Friday, May 20, at 8 p.m.
The City of Salisbury will operate on the following schedule for the Memorial Day holiday, Monday, May 30.

The Salisbury Human Relations Council is pleased to announce the 2022 Elizabeth Duncan Koontz (EDK) Humanitarian Award recipients. This year’s recipients are Reverend Dr. Robert Black, DeCarlo Duling, and Sherry Hawthorne.

This month’s employee spotlight is Emily Vanek, a long-range planner for the City of Salisbury Planning Department. In her role, Emily works on historic preservation and long-range planning efforts such as the Forward 2040 Comprehensive Plan. On a day-to-day basis, she works with residents, property owners and developers to review their plans for consistency with the Local Historic Design Standards and Land Development Ordinance, and issues Certificates of Appropriateness. Emily serves as the staff liaison to the Historic Preservation Commission.

The Parks and Recreation Department is happy to announce that registration is currently open for youth athletic camps, and camps kickoff starting June 6th. Athletic camps include Youth Baseball, Girl’s Youth Volleyball, and Girl’s Fast Pitch Softball.
