City To Begin Budget Process For FY2022-2023

City departments will begin their budget process later this month in preparation for the upcoming fiscal year. Fiscal Year 2023 (FY2023) is the city’s budget year that will run from July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023. The adopted budget ordinance will set the new tax rate and city fees.

Tips to Prevent Frozen Pipes This Winter

Cold temperatures can cause water pipes to freeze. The City of Salisbury encourages residents to start thinking about the possibility of pipes freezing in your home. Frozen water pipes are a problem that can happen in homes with both plastic and copper pipes. Take steps to protect your water pipes from freezing and avoid significant property damage.

Child Neglect Investigation

On Saturday, January 22, the Salisbury Police Department was made aware that a nonresponsive child was brought to Novant Hospital by his adoptive father on January 21, 2022 around noon. The child showed possible signs of neglect and was transported to Presbyterian Hospital for further treatment.

Human Relations Council modifies 2022 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration weekend

The Salisbury Human Relations Council (HRC) will host its annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Weekend virtually in a similar format to the 2021 programming due to COVID-19. The 2022 theme, “Keep Moving Forward: United for Service, Peace and Equity,” will be incorporated into a number of weekend activities, Saturday, Jan.15 through Monday, Jan. 17.

Celebrating Go Transit Month!

September is Go Transit Month in the City of Salisbury - an opportunity to show appreciation for Salisbury Transit staff who keep Salisbury moving.
“Go Transit Month recognizes our dedicated bus drivers, bus maintenance workers, transit office staff and our riders who support transit throughout the Salisbury area,” said Transit Director Rodney Harrison. “While our celebrations will look different this year due to COVID-19, we still want show appreciation for employees and riders.”
Riders and residents are encouraged to join in celebrating the hard-working transit operators throughout the month of September. This could be as simple as a smile and a wave as you’re boarding and a “thank you” when you leave.
