The City of Salisbury Parks and Recreation will offer summer camps for children this year. Summer camp programs will be conducted with COVID-19 safety protocols in place and will follow recommendations from the CDC, state and local health officials.

This release is issued jointly by the Salisbury Fire Department and Millers Ferry Fire Department. On May 21, 2021 at 1030 pm the Miller’s Ferry Fire Department, Salisbury Fire Department, Churchland Fire Department, Rowan County Rescue Squad, Davidson County EMS, and Rowan County EMS were dispatched to the Yadkin River Bridge above Southbound I-85 for a report of a person that had jumped/ fallen off of the bridge.

Employee Spotlight: Steve Myers, Mail Coordinator

Steve Myers is the mail coordinator for the City of Salisbury. His role focuses on support services for the City and includes receiving, processing and delivering mail, packages and supplies. Although he receives and delivers packages to departments from FedEx, UPS, Amazon and USPS, Steve also transports interdepartmental mail for City departments.

Salisbury Police investigating two shooting incidents

Salisbury Police are investigating two incidents of gun violence within its city limits Wednesday evening, May 26.

The first incident was a report of shots fired at 6:40 p.m., in the area of 410 West 15th St. Upon arrival, officers were told that the driver of a black Jeep with a damaged front headlight, shot a gun several times. No visible signs of damage to the nearby apartments or any spent shell casings could be found. A Be On the Lookout (BOLO) was issued.

Pedestrian struck by Salisbury Police officer has died

The pedestrian who was struck by a Salisbury patrol officer, Tuesday, May 18, has died.

Howard Miller, 59, of East Spencer died from his injuries Friday, May 21. Salisbury Police is awaiting results of the full wreck investigation from the State Highway Patrol, which conducted the investigation.

Spring Spruce Up Week is coming

April 23-27

Have bulky trash items that don't fit in your trash can? Place your bulky item trash at the curb on your regular collection day before 7 a.m. during Spruce Up Week, and the City will collect it for free! Please read further to learn what bulky trash items are allowed.

Spring Spruce Week will be April 23 through 27, 2018. This collection is for RESIDENTS living inside the city limits of Salisbury, NC. NO BUSINESSES. Spruce Up weeks are organized by the Public Services division and the Community Appearance Commission.

What is allowed:
- old appliances
- tires without rims (limit 5 per location)
- regular bagged trash
- furniture, beds & mattresses

What is NOT allowed:
- No computers, TVs or electronic equipment
- No building materials (this includes carpet, padding, sheet rock, sinks, lumber, commodes, windows, etc.)
