Recognized as a “Tree City USA” locality for more than 30 years, the City of Salisbury is dedicated to the health, vitality and well-being of our city trees. Now that we are able to move forward with the City Park Lake project, we have to think about the best uses of the park as a whole and the long-term effects of the landscaped areas around it.

Pet “poop” can affect stormwater quality by running off into storm drains and in to streams, creating potential algae blooms and affecting water toxicity.

Evans Pool on Saturday, September 7, 1 to 5:30 p.m. for the annual Doggie Dip Swim Party. This special day is for all well-mannered dogs and their handlers to enjoy the sun and water while meeting others who share the same interest.

Hurley Park pond dredging process begins in early September

One of Salisbury’s most treasured parks renowned for its blooming flowers, tree species and water feature is undergoing maintenance for a near two-month period beginning in early September. The Hurley Park maintenance project will focus on dredging the pond and maintaining the fountain on the east side of the park by Lake Drive.

Salisbury Mayor Declares State of Emergency in Preparation for Potential Impact of Hurricane Florence

Salisbury Mayor Al Heggins declared a state of emergency in Salisbury in preparation for the potential impact of Hurricane Florence, which is expected to hit the North Carolina coast later this week.

“As we continue to monitor the potential impacts of Hurricane Florence on the City of Salisbury, we want our residents to know that city officials and employees are being proactive to guarantee the safety and welfare of everyone,” said Mayor Heggins. “I encourage all Salisburians to take stock of their emergency supplies, check in with neighbors and stay up to date on the latest emergency information, by signing up for Nixle notifications or monitoring local weather reports. By working together, we will be able to face this storm head on.”

The emergency declaration implements an emergency action plan that applies to all City of Salisbury departments. It permits city employees to work beyond normal work hours to complete emergency repairs and restore services to residents. The declaration also authorizes the City to apply for financial assistance if needed through state or federal agencies if funding becomes available.
