The 2019 Cheerwine Festival returns to Salisbury, N.C., to celebrate the Carolinas’ tastes, sounds and culture

Cheerwine and the City of Salisbury’s third annual festival to feature Smash Mouth, legendary Carolina food, free family-friendly activities and more

Cheerwine, the iconic family-owned soft drink, and its hometown of Salisbury, N.C., will host the biggest “Cheerwine Festival” ever in its third consecutive year. The free event is scheduled for Saturday, May 18, in downtown Salisbury from noon-10 p.m.

Music will be front and center, with multi-platinum band Smash Mouth – best known for its hit song “All Star.”

The City of Salisbury will join cities around the world in a friendly competition to see which area has the most nature and the most engaged residents. The 2019 City Nature Challenge will start on Friday, April 26, at 12:01 a.m. and end on Monday, April 29, at 11:59 p.m.

Award-winning Salisbury Sculpture Show announces 2018 winners

Perigee by Greensboro, N.C. sculptor Dane Winkler has won Best in Show in the 2018 Salisbury Sculpture Show “Discover What’s Outside.”

This was the 10th year the Salisbury Public Art Committee has hosted the nine-month long, award-winning Sculpture Show, with 16 art pieces enlivening the downtown, four on college campuses, and three displayed in the county.

City of Salisbury named Tree City USA for 33rd consecutive year

The City of Salisbury has been named a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management. This is the 33rd year Salisbury has earned the national designation.

On March 5, 2019 at 2:29 pm, Salisbury Police were notified of a child that was being airlifted to NC Baptist Hospital for treatment of a dog bite. Upon investigation, officers determined that the incident happened at the home of the child’s baby sitter at 716 Wilson Road in Salisbury.
