The 2025 Alice and Fred Stanback Holiday Tree at Bell Tower Green Park will be sponsored by the City of Salisbury in memory of Mayor Karen K. Alexander. Alexander was appointed to the Salisbury City Council in 2013 and was elected to serve from 2015 until her passing in December 2024.
Mayor Tamara Sheffield emphasizes that the tribute is from the entire City family. “This is another wonderful way to remember and celebrate Mayor Alexander, whose light continues to shine across our community.”
This is the fifth year for the tree lighting which takes place after the ‘Tis the Season Spectacular Holiday Parade. In preparation for the annual event, City staff reserves a tree during the summer and picks it up the week before the event for installation. The sponsorship covers the related expenses.
The dedication will take place on Wednesday, November 26, at 6:15 p.m. and the tree will remain until January.
