Residents asked to set out carts for decal updates ahead of program transition
Beginning July 1, 2026, residential recycling services will transition to a city-operated program. This change allows for greater oversight, improved service, and a continued commitment to sustainability in our community.
What’s Changing Now?
As part of this transition, the City is updating all residential recycling carts. Many existing blue carts currently display the Republic Services logo. Over the coming weeks, crews will begin placing City of Salisbury decals over those logos.
What Residents Need to Do
If you currently have a blue recycling cart with a Republic Services logo, please help us by following these steps, between May 11 and the end of June.
Place your recycling cart at the curb for three consecutive days, starting on your regular collection day. If your collection day is Friday, include the weekend as part of your three-day window.
Crews will locate your cart and apply the new City decal during this time.
Once your cart has been stickered, you may bring it back in. If your cart is not updated after three days, bring it in and repeat the process during your next recycling week.
We appreciate your help as we take this important step toward launching city-operated recycling. This will help us better serve residents and continue building a cleaner, more sustainable Salisbury.
