SUSPECT ARRESTED IN SHOOTING INCIDENT
SALISBURY, N.C. — (May 6, 2026) — On Saturday, May 2, 2026, at approximately 8:00 p.m., officers with the Salisbury Police Department responded to the 600 block of Vance Avenue in reference to a shooting incident.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult female inside the residence suffering from injuries related to the incident. She was transported to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
During the investigation, detectives acquired evidence indicating that Jorod Qutez Young (DOB: 1/16/1989) was involved in the shooting incident and found in possession of a firearm while being a convicted felon. As a result, investigators obtained a felony Warrant for Arrest charging Young with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
Today, May 6, 2026, members of the Salisbury Police Department’s Special Response Team and Criminal Investigations Division located and arrested Young without incident.
Police Chief PJ Smith commended the work of the Salisbury Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division in quickly identifying a suspect in this case. “Their dedication, attention to detail, and professionalism demonstrated throughout this investigation, from evidence analysis to witness interviews, reflects a strong commitment to public safety and justice. Their efforts help strengthen trust within the community and provide reassurance to our residents.”
