Ceremony and block party at City Park will honor veterans and celebrate community
The community is invited to Celebrate America 250 during a special Veterans Arch dedication ceremony and community block party on Tuesday, July 1 from 4-7 p.m. at City Park, 305 W. Miller St.
The event will begin at 4 p.m. with the official dedication of the Veterans Arch, including a ceremonial ringing of the bell to commemorate the occasion and honor the service and sacrifice of veterans. Following the ceremony, the celebration will continue with a community block party featuring activities, crafts, music, face painting, mobile recreation activities, and food trucks. The event is free and open to the public.
Recently completed with the installation of the bell and capstone, the Veterans Arch was created as a lasting memorial at the Patriot’s Flag Concourse. The arch provides a meaningful place for reflection, remembrance, and community connection while honoring local veterans and their service to the nation.
The Patriot’s Flag Concourse is also home to the WWI and WWII Memorial Wall and the Vietnam War Memorial Wall, both installed in 2020 to honor Rowan County soldiers who died in those wars.
