Salisbury Mayor named to Legislative Policy Committee
Salisbury, N.C. (Wednesday, August 12, 2026) – Salisbury Mayor Tamara Sheffield has been named to the North Carolina League of Municipalities Legislative Policy Committee (LPC). Composed of North Carolina local leaders, the LPC will lead the policy development process into the next legislative biennium.
“The Legislative Policy Committee plays an integral role in developing a set of policy goals that reflect the needs of municipalities across the state,” said League President and Clayton Mayor Jody McLeod. “Representing municipalities of varying population sizes and geographic regions, the committee will drive the League’s advocacy strategy, ensuring that it encapsulates the collective priorities of cities and towns. These committee members have a firsthand understanding of municipal governance, and we are grateful for their leadership and guidance.”
Mayor Sheffield is active in state and national municipal organizations and says, “It is a tremendous honor and opportunity to serve on the LPC, giving voice not only to the people of Salisbury, but also to communities across North Carolina.”
