SALISBURY POLICE CHARGE WOMAN FOLLOWING ASSAULT INVESTIGATION
SALISBURY, N.C. (August 14, 2026) — The Salisbury Police Department has charged Cheryl Jean Little, DOB: (05/14/1980) with felony breaking and entering and assault following an investigation into an altercation at a Park Avenue residence.
On Thursday, August 13, 2026, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Patrol officers responded to 529 Park Avenue following a report of an assault that had occurred. When officers arrived, they located two injured women who were initially believed to have sustained stab wounds.
Cheryl Jean Little was transported to Atrium Health for treatment. Shannon Hope Jones, 52, was transported to Novant Health for treatment.
Detectives with the Salisbury Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division and crime scene personnel responded to assist with the investigation.
Investigators determined that Little, who was known to the homeowner, forced her way into the residence through a rear door. Once inside, Little engaged Jones in an argument that escalated into a physical altercation. During the altercation, a dog inside the residence attacked Little. Investigators determined that injuries sustained by Jones appeared to have been caused primarily by the dog. Little suffered a significant wound to her upper arm. Investigators have not determined what caused that injury.
A search of the residence revealed damage consistent with forced entry at the rear door, including a broken security chain and damaged wood. Investigators also located blood inside the residence but did not locate a knife or other weapon believed to have been used in a stabbing.
Little was hospitalized for treatment at the time the charges were obtained. She was arrested upon discharge and is held in Cabarrus County Detention Center under a $3,000 secured bond.
