Salisbury Fire Department to Hold September 11th Memorial Service
Salisbury, NC (September 2, 2026) The Salisbury Fire Department will hold a 9/11 Memorial Service on Friday, September 11, 2026, 8:30 a.m. at the Firefighters Memorial, 1402 South Main Street, Salisbury, NC. The community is invited to attend this solemn event honoring those whose lives were lost during and as a result of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the tragic morning 2,977 people lost their lives, including 343 firefighters, 71 law enforcement officers, and 55 military personnel who died while attempting to save others. The Salisbury Fire Department’s memorial acknowledges both the immediate and lasting toll of that day, paying tribute to all who answered the call and those who continue to bear its weight.
Salisbury Fire Chief Robert Parnell says, “Although twenty-five years have passed, this ceremony renews our commitment to never forget the lives lost that day and the lasting impact on the first responders who continued to serve beyond that day. We will stand together as a community to honor the legacy of their courage and sacrifice.”
The service will follow the timeline of the events of September 11, 2001, extending over two hours to reflect key moments of the day. The public is encouraged to attend for as much time as they are able, with flexibility to come and go during the service.
