Rowan County Creek Week brought residents together September 12-19 to explore the importance of protecting our local waterways.
Throughout the week, residents participated in activities including Water Wednesday at City Park Lake, community litter sweeps, storm drain marking and tours of Salisbury-Rowan Utilities’ water and wastewater treatment plants. From learning how drinking water is treated and wastewater is cleaned to seeing how litter and stormwater can affect local creeks and streams, the events offered hands-on ways to learn more about our water resources.
These activities also highlighted how everyday actions can make a difference in the health of our creeks, streams, and overall water quality. By learning more about where our water comes from and where it goes, residents can play a part in protecting this important community resource.
Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered and helped make the eighth annual Rowan County Creek Week a success.
