Salisbury Police Identify Juvenile Suspect in Shooting Investigation

Detectives with the Salisbury Police Department have identified a juvenile suspect in connection with a July 30, 2026, shooting in which gunfire struck a passing vehicle and a nearby residence in the 700 block of South Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.

Salisbury Mayor Tamara Sheffield has been named to the North Carolina League of Municipalities Legislative Policy Committee (LPC). Composed of North Carolina local leaders, the LPC will lead the policy development process into the next legislative biennium.

Summer Spruce Up Week, July 13 - 17

Summer Spruce Up Week is one week away starting Monday, July 13.
During this time, neatly place any extra trash, furniture, mattresses, and appliances at the curb by 7 a.m. to be collected on your normal trash collection day.

Remember:

Loose items must be bagged or containerized to be collected
Building materials such as lumber, sheet rock, carpet, toilets, and doors will NOT be accepted
Electronics such as TVs and computers are NOT accepted
A limit of 5 tires without rims is accepted. The tires will be collected the following week.
Please leave your tires out during Spruce Up Week for our team to count how many need to be picked up.
