Grammy-winning Blues Traveler, Spin Doctors to headline 2022 Cheerwine Festival

Cheerwine, the iconic 105-year-old soft drink, and its hometown of Salisbury will welcome two of the country’s favorite rock bands to the Hotwire Communication Stage as this year’s headliners.

Blues Traveler, the Grammy-winning quintet, is best known for their Top 40 singles "Run-Around,” "Hook,” and "But Anyway,” as well as their improvisational live shows. The Grammy-nominated Spin Doctors rose to fame for their 5x platinum album Pocket Full of Kryptonite and hits "Two Princes" and "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong.”

This month’s employee spotlight is Jake Sterling, Internal Services Manager for the City of Salisbury Public Works Department. For more than 25 years, Jake has worked for the City in various roles ranging from a mechanic, second shift supervisor, fleet supervisor and fleet manager.

Human Relations Council hosts educational support faith forum

The Covenant Community Connection (CCC), a subcommittee of the Salisbury Human Relations Council, hosts a “Supporting Public Education” workshop, Saturday, March 26, First Presbyterian Church, 308 W. Fisher St., from 1 to 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Salisbury Police Department Press Release 03-01-2022

On February 28, 2022, at approximately 6:00 PM, a male subject, later identified as Bruce Richard Godwin (32 yrs old), approached a Salisbury Police Officer in the Police Department garage. The male subject advised that he had recently been hired by the Police Department and was there to obtain some of his equipment.

April Is Fair Housing Month

Finding a place to live should be fair and equal for everyone. That’s why the Fair Housing Act exists—to protect you from discrimination when renting, buying, or getting a loan for housing. No one should be denied a home because of their race, color, religion, national origin, gender, familial status (having children), or disability.

Unfortunately, housing discrimination still happens. Maybe you were told an apartment wasn’t available when it actually was. Or a landlord refused to rent to you because you have kids. Maybe a bank changed its loan terms because of your background, or a property owner refused to make reasonable accommodations for a disability. These are all examples of illegal housing discrimination.

Fair housing laws apply to landlords, property managers, real estate agents, banks, builders, and even homeowners selling or renting their own property. If you believe you’ve faced discrimination, resources are available to help.
