Lt. Walker promoted to Salisbury Police Department criminal investigations lead, PIO

Lt. Lee Walker has been named the public information officer (PIO) for the Salisbury Police Department (SPD), following the recent retirement of Lt. Greg Beam. Walker has been with the Salisbury Police Department since 2002.

Walker’s law enforcement career spans 25 years, beginning with the Appalachian State University Police Department. His previous positions with Salisbury include supervision of the patrol division, training supervisor, and patrol watch commander. In addition to his duties as PIO, he will serve as commander of criminal investigations.

Construction for the Justin Monroe and Vic Isler Salisbury Fire Station and Fire Academy on Cedar Springs Road continues to be an ongoing process. Due to the poor weather as a significant factor in the construction schedule delay, the project is running approximately three months behind.

Salisbury Transit suspends fares to support stay-at-home executive order

Salisbury Transit will suspend fare collections on all routes effective Tuesday, March 31, 6 a.m., as the system implements a rear-door entry policy to help keep passengers and operators safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, while still providing essential transit needs.

Salisbury Business System Bonds Fitch Ratings Improve

Fitch Ratings has assigned an 'AA-' rating to the City of Salisbury’s $38.7 million combined enterprise system revenue bonds, series 2020. In addition, Fitch Ratings upgraded the approximately $9.0 million combined enterprise system refunding revenue bonds, series 2010 to 'AA-' from 'A+'. The rating outlook has been revised to stable from positive.

Salisbury Mayor Declares State of Emergency

Mayor Karen Alexander declared a state of emergency for the City of Salisbury related to the COVID-19 virus (Coronavirus), following a similar declaration by Rowan County. The declaration authorizes the City to apply for financial assistance related to preparation, response and recovery of COVID-19 if needed through state or federal agencies.

City of Salisbury Provides Operation Schedule for Thanksgiving Holiday

SALISBURY, N.C., (Friday, Nov. 18, 2016) -- The City of Salisbury will operate on the following schedule for the Thanksgiving Day holiday:

City office buildings and all four recreation Centers will close at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 23. City offices will reopen on Monday, Nov. 28.
The Customer Service Center will be closed on Wednesday, Nov. 23, and reopen on Monday, Nov. 28.
Salisbury Transit service will be limited on Wednesday, Nov. 23. Due to the annual holiday parade, there will be no service on Wednesday between 1:20 and 4:40 p.m. There will be no service on Thursday, Nov. 24. Service on Friday, Nov. 25 and Saturday, Nov. 26 will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.
The City’s Solid Waste Division will offer garbage and recycling collection on its regular schedule. There will be no leaf or limb collection on Thursday, Nov. 24, or Friday, Nov. 25.
Fibrant Technical Support will maintain regular hours. For assistance, customers may contact Fibrant Technical Support by calling (704) 638-5300.
Salisbury Rowan Utilities’ administrative offices will close at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 25. Offices will reopen on Monday, Nov. 28. If you have a water/sewer emergency after hours or during the holiday, please call (704) 638-5339.
The Salisbury Community Park will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 24 and operate on its regular schedule Friday, Nov. 25.
