The Community Engagement Department is responsible for developing and implementing programs that foster a thriving community and organizational environment, actively engages employees and the public, builds strong relationships internally and externally, and manages City communications and media functions while aligning these efforts with the City’s overall mission, values and Strategic Plan. With a focus on community, connections, outreach, employee engagement and workplace strategies, the department responsibilities include:


  • Effectively communicate City information to employees, the public and the media

  • Lead the development, marketing and implementation of community initiatives

  • Strengthen employee engagement

  • Manage, promote, and safeguard the City’s brand

  • Serve as liaisons to support the Human Relations Commission

  • Advise and assist departments with messaging

  • Monitor policies and practices to ensure organizational consistency, efficiency and fairness

Salisbury City Council and city staff will host the second in a series of community town hall meetings titled, Chit, Chat & Chew, Tuesday, June 26, beginning at 5:15 p.m., at J.C. Price Legion Post, 1433 Old Wilkesboro Road. The suspect in the bank robbery at First National Bank yesterday, and who subsequently was shot by a Salisbury Police Officer, has been identified as: Jerick Raheem Gray (4/19/76), a resident of High Point, N.C. Gray died yesterday evening at the hospital of injuries resulting from being shot by the officer. Gray was identified as the driver of the vehicle that officers pursued after the bank robbery.

On Thursday, May 31 at approximately 12:36 p.m. a person entered the First National Bank at 322 E. Innes Street in Salisbury and robbed the location of an undisclosed amount of money. Officers were able to locate the suspect’s vehicle and engaged in a multi-jursidictional vehicle pursuit, which led them to 1101 Mendenhall Street in the City of Thomasville.

WSRG-TV is a local government access TV station that provides free PSAs and City and Rowan County information through cable providers Spectrum (Channel 16) and Hotwire (Channel 394).
