Traffic Advisory: Mocksville Ave.

Duke Energy contractors will begin infrastructure upgrade work along Mocksville Avenue starting Tuesday, Jan. 13. The work is expected to take approximately seven days to complete and will occur between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day. Anticipated work zone will be along Mocksville Avenue from Rutherford Street to approximately 150 feet past the intersection of Confederate Avenue and Mocksville Avenue. Motorists should use caution and watch for crews in the area.

Pet “poop” can affect stormwater quality by running off into storm drains and in to streams, creating potential algae blooms and affecting water toxicity.

The Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department invites handlers and their beloved pooch to enjoy a refreshing swim at Fred M. Evans Pool on Saturday, September 7, 1 to 5:30 p.m. for the annual Doggie Dip Swim Party. This special day is for all well-mannered dogs and their handlers to enjoy the sun and water while meeting others who share the same interest.

Hurley Park pond dredging process begins in early September

One of Salisbury’s most treasured parks renowned for its blooming flowers, tree species and water feature is undergoing maintenance for a near two-month period beginning in early September. The Hurley Park maintenance project will focus on dredging the pond and maintaining the fountain on the east side of the park by Lake Drive.

Residents are asked to have all loose leaves raked to the curb by Monday morning of your collection week to be ensured they are collected by Friday. The Greenway, Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee’s mission is to create a safe, connected, and accessible network of bike lanes, sidewalks, and greenways to encourage walking and cycling for transportation, recreation, and health benefits. To advocate for infrastructure improvements, policies, programs, and grants that prioritize alternative modes of transportation for the Salisbury Community. To promote collaboration and partnerships among city and county officials, and staff; tourism; advocacy groups; and the community to insure buy-in and support from the broader constituents. With a goal to integrate new pedestrian and bicycle plans and policy recommendations with existing efforts at local, county, and regional levels.
