The City of Salisbury will operate on the following schedule for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays:
This month’s employee spotlight is Fern Blair, web and marketing services coordinator for the City of Salisbury Communications Department. In her role, Fern manages the city’s websites and branding, designs the monthly newsletter and provides marketing and design support to city departments for events, programs and educational initiatives.
The process to obtain a city of Salisbury special events permit has shifted to an online application that is now managed by the fire department. The planning department previously directed the permitting process, but an increase in commercial and residential development applications demands more team resources. In addition, this shift will also allow the fire department to review the permits and ensure a public safety plan is met for each event.
The Salisbury Police Department (SPD) has been awarded an additional $25,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation as part of its $1 million pledge to social justice and racial equity in North Carolina.
Downtown Development will launch a pilot parking program within the Municipal Service District (MSD) beginning on Sunday, January 1, 2023.
Salisbury Fire Department and Rowan County Emergency Services were dispatched at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3 to a reported structure fire in the 800 block of S. Church Street.
