This month’s employee spotlight is Jay Basinger, a detective and crime scene investigator with the Salisbury Police Department. Jay is a sworn police officer who is always ready to step up and assist wherever needed. As a detective, he investigates a wide range of crime scenes with a focus on major crimes, including homicide, burglary, and sexual assault. Additionally, Jay is a member of the arson task force, where he collaborates with the fire marshal’s office to investigate fire-related incidents.
“I like the ever-changing nature of law enforcement and the opportunity to assist people. There’s a sense of fulfillment when we find a piece of evidence and it leads us to someone involved in a crime. Being a part of that process and bringing closure to a family when it leads to a conviction, is incredibly rewarding.”
