SPD Temporarily suspends Ride-A-Long program

Attention: The Salisbury Police Department has temporarily suspended their departmental rider program. For the time being, we are focusing our efforts on our new recruits to ensure they are our primary focus for the field training officers. An announcement will be made when this suspension has been lifted.

Salisbury in Negotiations for Fibrant lease agreement

The Salisbury City Council has adopted a resolution authorizing submission of a Fibrant lease proposal to Salisbury voters for a vote in May. The City of Salisbury is in negotiations to enter into a lease agreement with Hotwire Communications, a privately-owned fiber optics telecommunications provider, to provide services over the City’s fiber network.

Girls Who Code Spring Session Coming Up

Catawba, Livingstone Colleges partner with Fibrant, Parks and Recreation to provide guest instruction during spring Girls Who Code Club

Two Salisbury higher educational institutions, Catawba College and Livingstone College, will assist with guest instruction of the Salisbury Girls Who Code Club (GWC) spring session. The partnership is the first of its kind where the local educational organizations have joined forces with city departments to instruct public, private and home-school youth together on a STEM-related project.

Employee Spotlight: Scott Ludwick, Recreation Specialist

Scott Ludwick is a recreation specialist for Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department. In his role, Scott oversees rental requests for park shelters, serves as the assistant to the Salisbury Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, and assists with the department’s marketing efforts.
“Being an extrovert I enjoy talking to people. I enjoy sharing and learning how our department helps residents in our community whether it’s face-to-face, via social media or over the phone. Nothing is better than someone saying, ‘we appreciate you letting us know what is going on in Salisbury.’ I am glad to be a part of the great things we have done in my two years here with the city and with parks and recreation.”
