Keisha Coxe, a parks and recreation professional with over 17 years of recreation experience, is Salisbury’s new parks and recreation director. Her first day is Monday, May 6.
New this year, the Salisbury Public Arts Commission is hosting a meet and greet event with the talented artists of the Salisbury Sculpture Show on Thursday, May 2, 2024.
Salisbury-Rowan Utilities (SRU) Director James “Jim” D. Behmer, P.E. is retiring from the city of Salisbury effective Monday, July 1, after more than 30 years in the water resources industry. He has been employed by the city of Salisbury for more than 23 years, 16 of which were as utilities director.
Artists of all ages and skillsets are invited by the Salisbury Public Art Commission (PAC) to submit their best designs for the second Paint the Pavement project!
Salisbury City Council approved the city’s first Strategic Plan at the Tuesday, March 5, Council meeting. The goal of an organization’s Strategic Plan is to provide a path forward on decision-making at all levels. The City’s Plan will help guide city budget and operational actions.
This month’s employee spotlight is Karen Barbee, the City of Salisbury’s Remedial Action Plan Coordinator. She started her career with the Salisbury Police Department in 1980. She served in many roles including patrol officer, D. A. R. E. Officer and Community Service Officer, Police K-9 handler, and patrol sergeant. Karen was named NC Police Women’s Officer of the Year in 1989. She retired as a lieutenant and returned in July 2017 to work part-time on the Remedial Action Plan.
The City of Salisbury will operate on a limited schedule in observance of Good Friday, Friday, March 29.
