The City of Salisbury has been awarded a $768,516 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The City of Salisbury will operate on an adjusted schedule in observance of Independence Day, Monday, September 1.

The City of Salisbury has observed a fish kill at City Park Lake, which refers to the sudden, unexpected death of a large number of fish. City staff and the contracted management team are actively investigating the cause of this incident.

As a precaution, fishing in the lake is not permitted until further notice. Additionally, any fish caught in the past several days should be discarded and not consumed, as a safety measure.

As part of the adopted Fiscal Year 2025–2026 budget, the City of Salisbury will update several fee schedules beginning October 1, 2025.

The City of Salisbury and the Historic Salisbury Foundation (HSF) are proud to announce a collaborative effort to restore and revitalize the historic Salisbury Depot. Through this partnership, the City will purchase the Depot from HSF, returning the building to its original function as a passenger rail station and launching the next phase of a broader effort to enhance transportation and preserve Salisbury’s architectural heritage.

Salisbury will celebrate local community agencies, neighborhoods and law enforcement partnerships at a combined Back-to-School Community Resource Fair and National Night Out event, Tuesday, Aug. 5, beginning at 6 p.m. at Bell Tower Green. Food will be served.

The City of Salisbury invites residents to apply for the 2025 Citizens Academy, a free, ten-week program designed to offer a behind-the-scenes look at how local government works. This year’s Academy will be held every Thursday evening from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., beginning September 4 and concluding with a graduation ceremony on October 30.
