The Fifth Annual Rowan Creek Week is happening from Saturday, Sept. 16 through Saturday, Sept. 23. In conjunction with multiple environmental organizations and local municipal departments, Creek Week offers recreational, educational, and volunteer opportunities to allow everyone to enjoy and contribute to healthy waters in our area. The City of Salisbury will host several events.

The Salisbury Police Department (SPD) today released the video of one of their officers rescuing a non-responsive truck driver from a burning tractor-trailer on I-85. The incident occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 8.
SPD Lt. Corey Brooks was responding after hours to a separate incident shortly before 9 p.m. when he observed a tractor-trailer hit the retaining wall and catch fire. Without hesitation, Brooks stopped and ran to the truck's cab, where he found the driver, Michael Williams, unconscious.
This month’s employee spotlight is Mark Mosher with the Salisbury Public Works Department. His role consists of the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of City buildings and facilities including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work. Mark has assisted with renovations at City Hall Council Chambers in early 2018 and recent renovations at Miller Recreation Center and City Park Recreation Center.
Professionals and advocates from the fields of transportation safety, active mobility, and walkable communities will headline the 12th annual NC BikeWalk Transportation Summit, scheduled September 14-16, 2023 at Catawba College in Salisbury. Summit registration information is available at
