After conducting a national recruitment process, Salisbury City Manager Jim Greene has officially appointed Jason Wilson, P.E. as the new director of Salisbury-Rowan Utilities (SRU), effective Monday, Nov. 11. Wilson, who has served as SRU’s interim director, brings over 16 years of experience within the department and will lead SRU’s continued strategic growth and quality customer service to the community.

Salisbury Transit will offer free bus rides on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5. Rides will be free to everyone all day during regular bus service times from 6:00 a.m. to 7:10 p.m.
Earlier this afternoon, the Salisbury Police Department received a 911 call reporting possible shots fired within approximately three blocks of the Catawba College campus.
On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at approximately 6:48 p.m., officers with the Salisbury Police Department responded to the parking lot of 2096 Statesville Blvd. concerning an assault in progress. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 57-year-old female with life-threatening injuries consistent with an assault. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
