The Salisbury Citizen’s Academy, a 10-week academy in which residents learn firsthand about city operations, is now accepting applications for class members. The Citizen’s Academy, now in its sixth year, is held on Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 8 p.m. beginning Thursday, Sept. 5 through Thursday, Nov. 7.
The Third Annual Cheerwine Festival will be held on Saturday, May 18, in Salisbury from noon to 10 p.m. In preparation for the Festival, the city will begin to close roadways on Friday, May 17, at 8 p.m.

The City of Salisbury will join cities around the world in a friendly competition to see which area has the most nature-engaged residents. The 2019 City Nature Challenge will start on Friday, April 26, at 12:01 a.m. and end on Monday, April 29, at 11:59 p.m.
The Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department has postponed the Touch-A-Truck event scheduled for Saturday, April 13, at City Hall due to weather. The plan is to reschedule the Truck-A-Trunk event for Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Hall, 217 S. Main Street. Cheerwine and the City of Salisbury’s third annual festival to feature Smash Mouth, legendary Carolina food, free family-friendly activities and more
Cheerwine, the iconic family-owned soft drink, and its hometown of Salisbury, N.C., will host the biggest “Cheerwine Festival” ever in its third consecutive year. The free event is scheduled for Saturday, May 18, in downtown Salisbury from noon-10 p.m.
Music will be front and center, with multi-platinum band Smash Mouth – best known for its hit song “All Star.”
