The city’s new fiscal year brought name and staffing changes to three city departments. The Engineering Department became the Transportation Department, Community Planning Services split into the Planning and Neighborhoods Department and the Land and Development Services Department. In addition, the Public Works Department now has two umbrellas under which its service areas fall – Maintenance and Environmental.

Initiative to help ensure garbage collector safety
Salisbury’s public works department is formalizing its backyard Waste Collection Assistance (WCA) program to ensure worker safety as they enter private property.

The 2023 Cheerwine Festival will be held on Saturday, May 20, in Salisbury from noon to 10 p.m. In preparation for the Festival, the city will begin to close roadways on Friday, May 19, at 6 p.m.
The City of Salisbury Public Works Department has closed the Shober Bridge due to asphalt concerns. The bridge is located in the 400 block of North Ellis Street.
