The City of Salisbury’s finance department has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2020. The Certificate of Achievement for the city’s comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

The American Rescue Plan (ARP) provides $5 billion to assist individuals or households who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, and other vulnerable populations, by providing housing, rental assistance, supportive services, and non-congregate shelter, to reduce homelessness and increase housing stability across the country. These grant funds will be administered through HUD’s HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME).

This month’s employee spotlight is Cyndi DeBonis, a Salisbury police officer. True to the motto of “Every officer has a neighborhood and every neighborhood has an officer,” Cyndi takes calls for service primarily in Zone three and assists officers in other zones. She also serves warrants and helps with traffic accidents.
Last night, at approximately 8 PM with the assistance of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department, the Salisbury Police Department Criminal Division Unit and Salisbury Police Department NCAT arrested Marshall Oliver Morefield (DOB-03-07-2003) for the shooting that occurred Saturday, October 23rd, 2021 in the 1200 block of West Bank St. Mr. Morefield was charged with Assault with Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury. Mr. Morefield was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a$75,000.00 bond.
