The City of Salisbury’s Customer Service Department makes it easy for residents to pay their bills at no additional charge through the official City website at www.salisburync.gov/billpay. Residents of Salisbury can pay their bills fast and on time with no “convenience fees.” In particular, the online payment method will save both time and money because of its easy and user-friendly format. Patrons have 24-hour access to the service seven days a week, with the added benefit of knowing what they owe and when to pay in advance.

Public hearing to be held on Fibrant lease agreement

The Salisbury City Council has scheduled a public hearing on the proposed lease of the city’s Fibrant broadband fiber network. The hearing will begin at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 217 S. Main St.

The Salisbury Police Department recently uploaded its 2017 Annual Report to its city webpage at salisburync.gov/SPD. The report, featuring the department’s maxim of “Every neighborhood has an officer and every officer has a neighborhood,” is a first for the department.

Due to inclement weather, drivers are being asked to stay off the roads if possible, and to exercise caution when driving due to slippery roads.
Regarding city services:
- The Salisbury Customer Service Center is closed
- Salisbury Transit have suspended bus services as of 10:40 today
- Recycling collection services have been suspended
- Parks and Recreation events and programs are cancelled
- Parks and Recreation facilities will close at 5:00 p.m. today
- Girls Who Code is cancelled

Getting Fit in 2020 is Runner Friendly!

“We are excited to be recognized with the Runner Friendly Community designation,” said Salisbury Parks and Recreation Director Nick Aceves. “The continual expansion of our greenway system allows us to promote health and wellness opportunities to our residents. The partnership with Salisbury Rowan Runners (SRR), city departments, local businesses, The Carolina Thread Trail and the community as a whole has been supportive and involved. We all want to ensure our residents have the most accessible and enjoyable experiences in our parks, trails and sidewalks. This designation is truly the accomplishment of everyone in our city.”

The City of Salisbury was nominated by the Salisbury Rowan Runners, one of the longest operating running clubs in the state. SRR is made up of individuals with a passion for running and their motto is “A place for every pace.” The motto captures their robust work with beginning runners and commitment to help build a more healthy and fit Salisbury.

“Salisbury Rowan Runners club has a long standing relationship between city officials, city departments and the runners and walkers who are fortunate to live here,” said David Freeze, president of the SRR club. “I think the Runner Friendly Community designation magnifies how fortunate we are to share the community with so many interested businesses helping to support running and racing. The effort of working together made this all possible and the national recognition is well deserved.”

Residents are encouraged to go out and enjoy the 508 acres of beautiful park land, encompassing 29 parks and properties that Salisbury has to offer. Whatever your age or fitness level, the various parks and greenways will make exercising less intimidating and painful and more fun and instinctive.
