‘Tis the season to get rid of holiday waste

The City of Salisbury Public Works Department is inviting residents to participate in the Free Annual Winter Spruce-Up Week scheduled Monday, Jan. 3 through Friday, Jan 7, 2022. Conveniently held following the holidays, this week allows citizens to rid their homes of the extra boxes, paper, and trash items that come along with the festivities.

Employee Spotlight: Jason Parks, Video Services Coordinator/TV Station Manager

Starting a career with the City of Salisbury in 2003 as the City’s first webmaster, Jason Parks currently serves as Video Services Coordinator / TV Station Manager. In his role, Jason does project research, provides audio and video support to City staff, and film projects such as City Council meetings and PSAs. He is also responsible for creating and managing content for WSRG-TV, the City’s local government TV station.

According to a study by the Penn State Green Destiny Council, decreasing printing margins to 0.75” on all sides of printing paper results in a total reduction of paper usage by nearly 5%.

Application Period Now Open for HOME-ARP Grant Funds

The American Rescue Plan (ARP) provides $5 billion to assist individuals or households who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, and other vulnerable populations, by providing housing, rental assistance, supportive services, and non-congregate shelter, to reduce homelessness and increase housing stability across the country. These grant funds will be administered through HUD’s HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME).

Qualifying organizations can complete the below application during the period beginning December 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021.

2025 Winter Spruce Up Week

During Spruce Up Weeks, City of Salisbury residents can place items at the curb on their regular collection day before 7:00 a.m. The City of Salisbury Public Works Department will pick up your old appliances, tires without rims (limit 5 tires or less per location) and extra bagged trash.
