On November 13, 2022, at approximately 1:48 AM, the Salisbury Police Department was dispatched to 416 Messner St in reference to a shooting. Arriving Officers located a Juvenile that had sustained a gunshot. The juvenile was transported to Novant Medical Center for medical treatment.

On November 8, 2022, at approximately 2:05 p.m., the Salisbury Police Department (SPD) responded to Zion Hills apartment located at 1614 Standish Street regarding a shooting.

Salisbury Police Chief Jerome “Jerry” Stokes announced his intention to retire from the city of Salisbury effective, Saturday, Dec. 31. He was hired to lead the Salisbury Police Department (SPD) in July 2016 after a 32-year career with the Lynchburg, Va. Police Department.

Project Safe Neighborhoods once again hosts the “A Mile in Their Shoes” offender re-entry simulation, Wednesday, Nov. 9, 8:30 a.m. at the F&M Bank Trolley Barn, 125 E. Liberty Street. Human service employees, service providers, second-chance employers, and media are invited to attend the simulation to gain an understanding of the obstacles faced by those individuals transitioning back into their communities from incarceration.
2022-2023 SYC Induction Ceremony
The Salisbury Youth Council (SYC) inducts new members during its Member Induction & Pinning Ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 11.
The Salisbury Police Department secured warrants for Talib Latrell Kelly, age 21 of Salisbury. Kelly, who is not a Livingstone College student, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, discharging a firearm on educational property, and possession of a firearm by a felon for his involvement in the shooting incident at Livingstone College on Saturday, Oct. 15.
Salisbury Police Department to host fourth “Cultivating Community Conversations” event. These input and listening sessions are funded by a $25,000 Duke Energy Grant.
